Linework

I discovered lovely silk and linen threads in a store selling needlepoint supplies. The colors were fabulous, and I decided to try to use the threads in my felting. What I was looking for was a way to place the threads so that they were outlining some of the flowers I was making with silk hankies, enabled me to create spirals, or led to abstract designs.  Of course, the threads shrink differently than wool. And just like the silk side of my scarves, they wrinkled, contrasting with the smoothness of the felted wool. But…they provided a unique texture and added sparkle and interest to the scarves. So they have become a key element in many of my scarves along with other embellishments and worked their way into “painting with wool” in pillows and two dimensional wall hangings.
