The Pine Needle technique was developed by Leiko Uchiyama after she had watched the pine needles fall on snow and make interesting patterns. Fine threads of merino wool are cut on both ends arrayed in a structured or a random pattern. The result is to create a felted scarf that looks like lace. The pine needles can be laid out alone or on silk.
